A curious, intelligent company run by creative folks that love to surprise and delight their users.

For many years Mailchimp engaged us in a high bandwidth retainer where we worked across strategy, brand, product, marketing, internal culture, content and digital experiences. Through the years, we’ve done more than 100 projects with them, a small sample follows.

Brand Illustration

As part of Mailchimp’s rebranding we were tasked with creating an illustration library to communicate and celebrate all things Mailchimp.

Product Icons

In support of Mailchimp’s product redesign, we built an icon system that brings the warmth and personality of the brand into more tactical moments.

TinyLetter x Mazama

TinyLetter wanted to give a gift to some of its writers and readers. We partnered with Mazama, a Portland-based company producing beautiful ceramics, to create a custom TinyLetter mug and care package. Recipients of the mugs smiled and laughed and filled their vessels with hot liquids.

The Mystery of the Gesundbrite

For their annual holiday gift, we wrote, illustrated and produced a mystery picture book. The whodunit emphasizes Mannie’s ingenuity, Freddie’s helpfulness, and the creativity of both primate pals. Someone has sabotaged Mannie’s new invention at its premiere, allowing Freddie to indulge his life-long dream of becoming a detective. Readers can solve the mystery by either paying close attention to visual clues or by cheating and reading the solution at the end.

Fast Fives

Sending a campaign in the Mailchimp app earns you a high five. We went down the high five rabbit hole and created a stand-alone game that tests dexterity to our original 80’s-style arcade soundtrack for all users that have successfully sent a campaign.

Read this Summer

An annual book club for Mailchimp’s most avid or aspiring readers. Each year we create an irreverent visual world, swag and website for bookworms.

Ponce Sweet Ponce

When Mailchimp was planning the move to their sweet new office in Ponce City Market in Atlanta, they asked us to create something to get people excited and help them feel at home in their new space. We came up with the concept and design of a welcome kit for the experience. The kit included a neighborhood map, coasters and postcards featuring imagery of Ponce City Market, a guidebook with information about the building and the surrounding area, a key chain, pencils and a floaty pen.

Playing Cards

We designed a series of custom playing cards for a Mailchimp giveaway. We dove deep into the history of card design to pay homage to the traditions of the genre while incorporating primates to reference the brand. We worked closely with theory11 to produce the decks, deck boxes, and a larger brick box, the traditional packaging for multiple decks.

TinyLetter Palm Springs

To celebrate the power of the written word, Mailchimp’s newsletter subsidiary TinyLetter picked five writers for a ten day residency at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs.

And Beyond

Because there is just so much more where this came from—welcome kits, recruiting packagings, event swag, tattoos, puzzles and more.
